Let us tell you about a client of ours…

Millennials... They want a Trophy for showing up!

We’re not really fans of sweeping generalisations here at Rawcliffe’s. We’re all unique and have a story. So, let us tell you about a client of ours called Bretton Lord, who also appreciates uniqueness and things with a story and, more importantly, a history.

Bretton’s life so far has been far from conventional. He was a child actor; won a Best Actor Award in the US aged 14 yrs, worked on Star Wars: Episode VIII behind the scenes, he even made his own film. But when Bretton’s not acting, he needs to be doing, and so aged 17 years old, he started an Antiques business.

Bretton said: "I was a child actor and so it was very difficult to get a 9 to 5 job as I had to keep going off for auditions and acting work so I rented a stand at an antiques centre and finally decided that buying and selling salvage and antiques was my passion." www.thewestmorlandgazette.co.uk

Fast forward 3 years and Bretton Lord (who, incidentally has the best name in Antiques since Lovejoy) opened Lords Antiques & Salvage in Ingleton which has now been trading for a little over 12 months.

Who loves Start-ups?

Rawcliffe’s Director Joe Tantram loves a Start-up. In fact, Start-ups are one of Joe’s specialities and when the opportunity came along back in January to work with Lords Antiques & Salvage he was very keen:

Joe said: "Starting a new business, especially if it’s your first, is risky. 20% fail within the first year and 60% fail within the first 3 years. Bretton’s quite inspirational really and has shown that young people shouldn’t be daunted by the prospect of starting a business.  There are a lot of positives to having youth on your side such fewer responsibilities and pressures perhaps, or having a lot more energy. Bretton’s enthusiasm, passion and work ethic are just wonderful to see and over the past 12 months he has built a really exciting business."

And it IS exciting. It’s a triumph! Lords Antiques and Salvage is a 20,000 sq.ft. retail space in Ingleton that’s become home to some of the most reputable antique dealers in the UK. It’s fun, quirky, intriguing, and visiting feels like attending an event. Some of the Vendors who call Lords Antiques and Salvage home include The Curiosity Asylum (our favourite) The Rave Cave (Vintage Records) and Davite Inspirations (retro lighting and décor).

If you can’t get over to Ingleton for the full, in-store experience then head over to the website or Facebook page where a lot of their products are available to view and buy online.

Lord Antiques would like to offer Rawcliffe clients a 10% discount for purchases between £30- £100 so if you can’t resist a trip and would like to take advantage of this offer then please email vikkis@rawcliffeco.com with the subject title ‘Lords Promo’ and the name of your Rawcliffe Accountant in the message so we can send you the code.
