On the evening of October 4th, 10 members of the team travelled to Ewood Park, the home of Blackburn Rovers FC. Our evening was to be spent in the Premier Suite for the Leonard Curtis Annual Dinner. This wonderful charity event raised money for Silver Line and Brian House and delivered an evening of great food and a lot of laughs.
The Silver Line is the only free confidential helpline providing information, friendship and advice to older people, open 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
Brian House: We care for local children with very complex needs and life-limiting conditions. They face huge challenges, but we support them and their families at every step of their difficult and often unpredictable journey…
The evening was hosted by ITV’s Paul Crone and began with fun and games in the way of some very entertaining raffles. Our very own Becky won a bottle of Prosecco and Lisa won afternoon tea for 2 at Falcon Manor. Next, a scrumptious three course meal followed by a very funny talk by ‘Eddie the Eagle’ (Michael Edwards). Eddie told some great stories about becoming the first competitor since 1928 to represent Great Britain in Olympic ski jumping. He also talked about the Hollywood Movie based on his life and where life took him after Calgary.
The evening concluded with a hilarious stand up routine by Comedian Steve Royle. Thank you to our friends at Leonard Curtis for hosting such a wonderful event and we look forward to attending next year!
